Canada Post Honors Lives Lost and Canadian Rescuers with Titanic Issue 2534

April 05, 2012, marked the centennial of the sinking of the Titanic in 1912 in which Canada played a major role in the search and rescue operations. To honor the the lives that were lost as well as the brave rescuers, Canada Post issued a four-pane collection for domestic-rate (2534) and single stamp for the international.

 

Together, the four stamps show the bow of the Titanic at the top with the stern and propellers at the bottom. All the stamps in the collection feature a red flag with a white star. The official Titanic Life Boat Flag. On the right of the bow is the port of departure, Southhampton, United Kingdom while on the left Halifax, Canada, the destination port the Titanic never reached.
